  • Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What is the point of Tango?

We are already used to paying for stuff with our phones - from Starbucks to parking meters to train tickets, mobile purchases add simplicity and efficiency for both the customer and the retailer. We thought, why not apply this same principle to bars & restaurants where closing tabs, waiting for receipts and signing checks can be a huge pain.

Tango lets you pay for food and drinks directly on your phone. No more opening tabs, no more lost cards, no more waiting around to cash out and no more signing checks.

    Q: How do I make a purchase?

A: To make any purchase through the Tango app you first need to link your credit or debit card as a payment method. Once the card is connected, you will be able to make any purchases and they will be automatically charged to your linked card. If you have more than one card on file, you can choose which will be the default payment method in the Payment Methods tab in the Settings page.

Q: Is my credit card information secure?

Yes, 100%. We use Stripe to connect to your credit card, so we never see or store your credit card information on our end. With Stripe, all card numbers are encrypted at rest with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. None of Stripe’s internal servers and daemons are able to obtain plaintext card numbers; instead, they can just request that cards be sent to a service provider on a static whitelist. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services (API, website, etc.).

Q: What happens if my order gets cancelled?

The server retains the right to cancel any order. If this does happen, you will get refunded in real time and will receive a push notification containing your refund receipt. For the most part, orders typically are only cancelled if the item purchased is out of stock or if the patron is being unruly.
